Robertson 5-3 Hawkins at the interval. Barry will be happy to get three frames...too many easy shots missed by him.

Robertson is the Masters champion. He beats Hawkins 10-4. Poor performance from Barry to be honest. Too easy for Neil. Not too exciting a final.

Joe Perry upsets Judd Trump in the Welsh Open final. Fair play to him.

Robertson is the favourite and the form horse. I'm backing Trump...he's only won one World title which surprises me. I usually prefer a player with bigger odds, but I think he might kick on this year. Ronnie always has a chance at the Worlds.

Match of the first round is Ronnie vs. Dave Gilbert... potentially a really tricky opener for The Rocket! Other stand out first round matches - Kyren Wilson vs. Ding and a grudge match between Shaun Murphy and Stephen Maguire.

Yeah they seem to be from what I can see. Yes they could play semi finals. For Ronnie it looks like Mark Allen in the second round and maybe Murphy in the quarters...so tough for Ronnie right from the start. I'm seeing him at 6/1. I'm also seeing Trump as favourite so maybe the draw has changed it a bit. Trump plays that Iranian fella in the first round and he seems a talented player himself.

I just seen an interesting record that should be equalled or broken at this year's tournament -

Most World Championship match wins :
    1. Stephen Hendry (70)
    2. Ronnie O'Sullivan (69)

Both are from 90 odd matches. Ronnie might break the 100 mark for matches played at the World Championship, but he would need next year to do so.

Ronnie beats the dangerous Dave Gilbert comfortably in the end 10-5...he was 3-0 down. He's into the second round.

So he has equalled the match wins record with Hendry and it's also his 30th appearance at the World's which equals Steve Davis. Another madcap interview from him!

Barry Hawkins knocked out in the first round. He is the first seeded player to be knocked out. Surprising as Barry usually does well at the World Championship.
