    Default Metric/Imperial and vital statistics

Some of the measurements given by advertisers can be rather amusing and I think it may be because they are trying to convert metric measurements into imperial.
As a rule of thumb no healthy adult woman has 30 inch hips...let alone 18 inch which I saw in one advert.

Buying clothing in Spain compared to the UK is a pain.

    I am a size 32 UK
    Spain, a size 42.

    Footwear, size 9
    Spain, size 43

Why can't all these countries just follow the same metric system?
It would make sense to do so.

Men are supposed to find women with a waist-hip ratio of 0.7 the most attractive.May be a fertility signal.

British/Irish gallon is larger. Good to know, not all American things are bigger.
