My understanding is that if you are registered as self-employed & pay taxes and are unable to work because of Covid-19 then you can claim €350 p.w. -
    the Covid-19 Emergency payment,.
Not if you live in the North. This government has deemed that anyone working here but living North of the border are entitled to fuck all. This despite the fact that they are paying taxes to the exchequer. I can't understand why SF aren't making more of a kick up about this.

Sorry if I've strayed off topic a bit but it would seem that the government aren't just against escorts working but people from the North.

with all the adverts before covid19 they don't want to be seen encouraging it as they say so won't have anything to do with helping escorts at all which is very sad as those escorts who quit meeting guys and had no money coming in and bills to pay like everyone else deserved to be looked after too

some escorts did get the 350 payment but ROI at least were looking after people who were out of work, there are many students who only worked 7-8 hours a week getting it, yes making maybe 90 euro while working and now getting 350 for not working, opposite in UK/ NI, the JSA / universal credit is very Low rate i hear and the Self Employed get nothing really and anyone starting new or had very little profit gets nothing and all that was available to them was a 0% interest free loan, its so very unfair compared to what the Irish Government was paying out,

I suppose its logical (& simpler) that you claim welfare from the country where you live & not where you work

Logical ? How do you work that 1 out ?

The government seem to be ok sending tax bills to a self employed individual living in the North but they can't pay them benefit ?

All individuals working would have an ROI bank account. Where's the problem in paying directly to that account?

The UK government are paying 80% of your wages under the furlough scheme. I doubt very much if they pay you anything if you work South of the border.

People that have been paying income tax and prsi for years getting nothing in return?

Yes they will be entitled to a pension if they have worked more than 2 years I think.

That's not gonna pay the bills now though.

    Total disgrace.

People living in NI and working in the South claimed the 350 and got it into their account, obviously they set up an euro account in the South but now they have to pay it back and claim instead from the UK government they were told, that about a quarter of what they were getting, big difference there and big change on their lives and their families

SF are useless as Michelle Gildernew and others in SF were contacted about it as were very worried and they did nothing and some have not even had their calls returned

I think logical is to get help from who took your money for years in tax . Logical. Not where do u live. U might live in Spain but your bussines is in Ireland and u paid tax for years in Ireland. Dont sound fair to me to ask help form Spain just because u live there , u never gave to Spanish government money why they should give u anything? But in the other hand irish government took your money PRSI and USC for years. Make more sense they to be the one u go to ask for help . I think...

My understanding has always been that within Europe, you pay taxes to, and claim benefit from the country that you are resident in. If you pay income tax in another jurisdiction, you claim repayment of that money.
I could be very wrong on this.
