I seriously doubt you’ll have any major problems if you have a half plausible reason, medical appointment will only work if you have an appointment letter, the essential worker letter is a life saver I find, no Garda has actually read mine, they just want to know you have one, I’m planning a trip to Dublin next week so I’m hoping my luck holds

maybe I'm being optimistic but I'm going to give it a go, what's the worst that'll happen, I might get turned around but I'm not driving into central Dublin so hopefully I'll avoid the worst of the checkpoints if there are any, risk versus reward, its def worth the reward on this occasion

Mission accomplished, 8 hour return journey from the top of the country to Dublin made and only met one single solitary checkpoint 30 minutes in, he who dares wins!
