    Default Gardai shot dead

just heard about this, jasus Dundalk is not a peaceful little town after all

The officer, who was in his 40s, was among colleagues who were escorting a cash delivery to a credit union in the area.

Several shots were fired during the incident at the Lordship Credit Union, on the Cooley Road in the town at around 9.30pm.

It is believed gardaí are now hunting four men in a grey Volkswagen Passat which fled the scene

    Dissidents?

Horrible to hear. Might be cliche but a lad doing a days work shouldn't die.

With any bit of luck those four men will be shot when found, no country needs scum like those.

It was only a matter of time 'till this happened. The government would rather pay off anonymous bondholders than ensure it's citizens are protected from scum like these killers. Hopefully, as with Veronica Guerin's murder, this is a wake up call to the minister for justice.

May he rest in peace, amen.

You can own a .22 Rifle or a shotgun, but you must be vetted to get a licence by the Gardai before buying one, said licence has to be renewed each year. Hand guns can only be owned by private citizens in very restricted circumstances (usually target sport shooting).
