Ironically enough they are testing nicotine patches on severely sick in france because the data coming out is that smokers are less likely to be severely effected by the virus. Google it if you dont believe me. 25% of french people smoke, but only 5% of the severely infected are smokers.

Having said that i think they are clutching at straws. Correlation does not imply causation.
