Nobody died, but were very sick for long and who knows how many others they have infected. One of them will never be healthy again, developed complications that have lasting effects on him for life. Strong man in his 40's no underlying medical condition.

    How is that for percentage..

And there is the million dollar question here, if you caught it, which one are you gonna have? A mild case or a severe one? And will you regain your health 100%? Can you be 100% certain about it? And who are you gonna spread it to before knowing it?

Better to be safe then sorry.
    Lovely to see you posting!

And agree on the percentage. As soon as the hospitals are overloaded the fatality rate will go up dramatically.

Small business cant takes 3 blows. Not even 2 blows some of them. Leaving aside from the economic disaster the negative impact on the mental help of the population is huge. I didnt see my parents since October last year. I miss them so so much. My father found my mom at 3 am in the bath crying. When he asked her why she is crying she said she is afraid she will die before to see me and ' to not tell me'. she watches the news every day and the fear they plant in people minds is unbelievable. I mean ok it is a virus around, a bad one, let's try to keep safe and protect each other but showing on tv (in Romania) people dead on the street (they said this was in China) and keep showing people with tubes in their throat will not help. yes, they want to show how serious it is.. but one year continuously we have seen only this and hear only this. Enough is enough. Time to think about something who work! and I don't think locking us down in one hand but allow others to move and work will make big difference. Or how u say in English ''cherry-picking'
But what is the measure of success to say it didn't work? I think it did work, it reduced the spread of the disease and deaths fell to almost 0.

    Is that not success?

Yes there are other things to consider but you cannot say the lockdown didn't slow down the virus.

Wear a mask, don't allow tourists, do all the common sense things. Why didn't they do theses things over the past 6 months?

Frances ICU is 40% full according to anything I can find.
The WHO states lockdowns should only be used as a short sharp shock when a country is pretty much over run.
I still maintain they are currently causing undue hardship, and possibly doing more harm than good

Anyway it appears many businesses and people are ignoring the lock down and carrying on.
It'll be interesting to see what happens

Thank god we used the time
Gained during the last lock down
To add to our ICU capacity
    Oh right...hang on
    We didn’t did we?
We thought it was wiser to keep
    Shelling out the PUP endlessly

Despite having more severe lockdowns than other countries M.Martin proudly declares us as a net contributor to the covid fund. A DIY contact tracing system. Absolute morons running the show.

    Unreal isn’t it?
A new low during the week
    When positive cases were asked
    To inform close contacts themselves
    Call round to their house
For a cup of tea and a biscuit
    Sure what could go wrong
    Absolute imbeciles

I have to disagree, the number of new cases rocketed and they had not enough capacity to inform close contacts, and while that should not have happened, surely it was the better option than not informing any close contacts??

It would have been far worse if they had done nothing.

    Fair point I suppose
It probably was better than doing nothing
    But the whole incident just
    Made the contract tracing system
    Look like a complete shambles
    When in fairness it’s not
It’s just on a par with our health service
Not fit for the task ahead without
    Massive amounts of funding and
Even then we need to make sure the money
Goes where it’ll be most effective
Has anybody any faith left in our present
    Leadership to achieve this?
