From what I recall, all of their efforts to control Zika, Ebola and Dengue have been focused at keeping it out of Lagos.
They also seem to rely heavily on WHO groups like MSF, etc to do that work. In a pandemic, those resources will be thinly spread globally.

I agree it is being sensationalised with people thinking a death sentence is coming.

However, the reaction of authorities is in line with the real issue - the nearly 1 in 20 death rate for over-60s, the potential to overwhelm existing health services, the potential to take out health care workers for 2-3 weeks at a time of high demand leading to indirect health impacts even for those who are not directly infected.

At a personal level, am I concerned for me? No. But in my family we have a lot of elderly and one relative with a disability who is very susceptible to any kind of infection. Am I concerned about passing something on to them? Absolutely. It will take a few months to properly test a vaccine (which hopefully won't give anyone narcolepsy like the last one did).
