Ye all remember the worldwide alarm at SARS some years back ?

: as of now this Corona Virus outbreak cases have Surpassed

the number of SARS cases them some years back . Hysteria button ?

I’d say well-founded rather cautious concern .

Happy travels daddyo ! X do be careful , carry hand sanitizer and Use it !

Get the mask on / not because it will prevent infection on its own , but

you won’t be touching your face !

Btw. Delta (?) And British Airways (?) Have suspended all flights in-out of China .

British Airways . Suspends All direct flight In-Out of mainland China .

Foreign nationals being evacuated and to be quarantined for two weeks .

The Ozzies get to spend two weeks quarantine on XMas Island before

being allowed back onto mainland Oz . 🌲 . : fires , deluge , now possible sick .

I wouldn't trust much of what the Chinese government say about this. It took them years to open up about their famine where millions died and they even downplayed the death count on that.

If the death count is "only" in the thousands now so they'll definitely downplay it. I don't think you build a hospital for one disease for a supposedly couple hundred people unless it's worse then they let on.

I remember that epidemic but even still it only killed 774 people before getting under control. What would be more worrying is that if it was a type of virus that would cause a pandemic due to globalization in the world now. If that happened this site would no longer exist as everyone would be too afraid to leave their homes to spend time with a stranger who has also spent time with a lot of other strangers.

I am travelling to SE Asia on business next week and have no plans to cancel at this time. Americans tend to get far more spooked about these scenarios and shut down in their bunkers.
I will of course be far more conscious of contact and interaction, but the world has to goes on.

FYI - Most face masks sold here are useless to protect you from infection
You need a face mask that conforms to the FFP3 standard
"A well fitting FFP3 mask will protect against fine toxic particulates including asbestos, bacteria, viruses and radioactive particles.
Due to the thickness of the filter material an exhalation valve is almost always fitted."

As Stephanie says the only advantage of a face mask is that it stops you rubbing your mouth and nose.
