38 people interviewed. Conservatively thats 38 hours of Garda time, equivalent to 1 weeks work for 1 garda. More realistically, including surveillance, briefings and paperwork, each interview probably leads to a full days work for one garda plus time in court if a case goes ahead.
So in reality, this surveillance of possibly consensual sex leads to the waste of a years work of one Garda. Could this Garda time be better spent chasing the pimps and traffickers that are hiding behind the smokescreen created by this new law.
The majority of sexwork in this country is consensual, the main coercion is the desire to live indoors, safe, warm and well fed. The available Gardai time should be concentrated at pimping and traffickers instead of chasing easy targets.

Gardai have be ringing around to find out where girls are based..I wonder if any of there rank and file members were among those caught! I myself was caught many years ago in a hotel in a bust south east town...name taken and spoken too..that's as far as it went...don't think I would like to be caught today...all too serious..but sure we will keep plodding (excuse the pun) along for another while...carefully..
