While storm Agnes was overestimated, Babet has been underestimated.
It was expected to be severe in parts of Scotland but even there it has been worse than expected.
The severity and the suddenness of the floods in Cork have taken the authorities by surprise and it is not over yet. More rainfall warnings for most of Ireland have been issued.

And no Storm Name ! Fuck it is a mess altogether. No Friar Tuck's for a while I doubt.

I do feel for the business owners, properties and merchandise ruined. As if times weren't hard enough.
    Are we there yet ?

Did you see where a pub in kilkelly county mayo collapsed altogether. No business there for a long long time. I wonder what happened, hardly anything to do with the bad weather was it.

Ciarán not here yet and talk of Debi being on her way.

Move to higher ground and batten down the hatches!

Only good news (for us) is that extreme as Ciarán is predicted, we may escape the worst of it.

Channel Islands and Northern France possibly could have 100mph plus winds. Equivalent to Category Hurricane Three.
    AND a lot of rain.

Cork had the highest amount of October rainfall on record. Cork Airport recorded 307.22mm of rainfall during the month, the highest on record for October and third-highest overall monthly total. Nine weather stations broke their October maximum temperature records.

October was the wettest month on record in Norther Ireland, breaking the previous record set in 1870, according to Armagh Observatory. Armagh Observatory also said it was the warmest October day for 97 years. Armagh Observatory has recorded daily rainfall at its meteorological station since 1838 and other daily measurements began in 1795.
