Default What if... Sex work was deciminalised for all and fully legalised

I've wondered for some time what it would mean for escorts and punters if sex work was deciminalised and legalised.
We still live in the dark ages in this country when it comes to such things and I don't think it will happen in my lifetime
but hopefully one day sex work will be regarded as just that, as work ,a profession.

Firstly what would it mean for escorts if their profession was legalised. Would you be happy to pay tax on your declared earnings?
Do you think you would be safer ? Would you feel more respected and accepted? Would you continue to work from hotels or apartments
or would you feel more comfortable working in a brothel? Would you increase your prices ?

As a punter the current legal situation doesn't overly concern me, I'm as careful as I can be and any of the ladies I've met are escorting
of their own free will and are smart independent business women. Would punters punt more often if it was legalised? Would you feel less
ashamed ? not that I think you should feel ashamed of course. Would you be willing to pay more ?
We have two lives , the second begins when we realise we only have one .....

Yeah ,in many countries, Germany ,Switzerland ,Netherland escort only can work with registration, regulated and paying tax ,it is not a bad idea .Also I think if they legalise and says pay tax as a normal work reduce the stigma ,and I will feel more accepted .

I would imagine the prices would be a lot less. If there was no stigma then lots more ladies would be up for it and not travel and not pay extortionate hotel prices so they could still make good profit with a lower rate

Same in Hungary , if you work alone and you are independent
the police don’t disturb you .
You have to pay some tax and you have to have blood test.
What is wrong with this ?
    NOTHING !

I agree prices may potentially go down on a local level; but fancy hotels and the opportunity to meet ladies from all over the globe in your downtown area would bring more upscale pricing as well. More spouses or girlfriends would get into the threesome w a hot stranger scene too I imagine.
Plus hopefully less STIs to contend with.

Even if it were legalized, there would still be stigma. Homosexuality is legal and is still stigmatized.

Unless the majority of women who want to be in love to have sex, change to being escorts, only then would the stigma dissappear.

The majority of stigma against escorts comes from other women who perceive escorts as going against the curve.

It would be great. I imagine it would make things a hell of a lot safer for the service providers as well.
