Thread: Ruhama’s shame

    Default Ruhama’s shame

Today’s Irish Times contains a report about Mary Cavner,a Magdalene laundry survivor, who has been compensated for unpaid work .
After her father died she ,aged 12,was made a ward of court and was forced ,until she was 18,to look after the babies of ‘fallen women’.She also cleaned and worked in the laundries. She states that she had no education and wasn’t allowed to talk or associate with anyone else in this time.
The institution that she was forced to work in was run by the Good Shepherd nuns. This same congregation was the founder member of Ruhama.
It is beyond belief that taxpayers’ money is allocated to this
    organisation.
The words slavery and trafficking spring to mind.

The Catholic church has a lot to answer for in this country!! Thankfully they have less and less control nowadays and hopefully none at all in the not too distant future.
We have two lives , the second begins when we realise we only have one .....

They sure do. The popes vist showed this as numbers of people to vist him dropped a hell of a lot. Also the church cant get any new young priests up north. nobody wants to become a priest.

Maybe due to a history of the older priests touching them up? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Plus people these days have better education, meaning that they are learning facts and less fiction.

Thats the main reason. But what is really shocking is this is no new thing. Priests abusing kids has been going on for years all over the world and has been well known.
