I was in lmk around midnight near a certain apartment block parked up trying to get through to escort I'd rang previous, was on phone looking for number etc and in my rear view mirror, I saw what looked like a security guard take photo of my reg back of my car, saw flash, he then walked off, anyone know why this was done?

Well, you were there, and if you don't know it is unlikely any of us eejits who were not there could know. Not being unhelpful, but just stating the obvious.
Could have been for any number of reasons. And you could have been parked there for any number of reasons, so it is not incriminating.

Perhaps a indication to us all not to park too close to the appartment? Although it is not always easy to find an appropriate parking place especially if you are not familar with the area.
    Stay safe anyhow.

I’ve heard of this happening, could be a number of reasons for it U always need to be able to come up with a valid reason to be in certain locations in case u r seen A lot of security cameras around apartment blocks now also My biggest fear would be having a crash especially if u travelled to a different town It could well be that there was suspicious behavior in that area recently

There are several reasons not to park too close to your destination but one is that you may be parking in another residents usual parking spot. If this is happening a lot, and it's always random guys with their antenna twitching, visiting the same apartment, and leaving shortly after, residents quickly put together a picture that what is going on is either sex or drug related.
In fact one lady that works regularly from her own apartment, tells me that her neighbours know what she does and are not particularly bothered as long as she makes sure clients don't park in the spaces near the back door.
My wife caught me wearing ladies underwear and threatened to leave me.
So I packed up all her clothes
    And left.

Clampers, maybe? They walk around with phones, take pictures of regs with their phones and special app that tells them if your time around the place expired so they can call clampers over.

Maybe there were parking restrictions...1 hour free parking type of thing? They often take photos to prove your car was there at a certain time.
As for myself, I never park too close to the venue. And I never walk straight back to the car without making sure I'm not been followed. Bit paranoid maybe...but there you go
