Default TMS treatment anybody had any experience with this?

Hi guys, i just found this and seems very interesting. I suffered from depression few years back but after treatment all gone and i became again me, the optimist and positive person i always was . Now i feel like its coming back so i was looking online and found this TMS or TRANSCRANIAL MAGNETIC STIMULATION . Do any of you had an experience with this?

DEALING WITH THE CAUSE – NOT THE SYMPTOMS
For too long, doctors and psychiatrists have had no way of targeting the specific areas of the brain involved in mental health issues. Antidepressants and other drugs impact on the whole brain, as does ECT.

Now there is an alternative, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) which is a targeted treatment to the particular brain area.

TMS involves the application of a targeted, pulsing magnetic field to excite or inhibit the nerves in the specific area of the brain that is causing the condition. TMS was approved by NICE, the UK advisory body that determines what treatments are acceptable in the NHS, in December 2015 as an effective and safe treatment for Depression. It is widely used in the US, where the FDA approved it in 2008, and in France, Germany and other European countries.

TMS treatment is a real alternative for patients who have tried counselling and antidepressants. Patients experience a different type of recovery with TMS to other treatments – their mood improves, they regain motivation and confidence and report improvements in appetite and energy levels.

The treatment is an outpatient procedure with minimal side effects. It is well tolerated, long lasting, comfortable and you can return to work immediately afterwards.

TMS treatment can be life changing for patients and their families

Is depression even real. Is it not like a heavy bad mood or a sympathy trip or people that have given up on themselves.

Depression is not just a moment bad mood. We all have mment bad moods when something not go as we like, or someone loved die, etc etc ... Depression is not a moment bad mood , is a unexplained continuously sadness ,bad mood who no go away , u feel low, not appreciated , u feel not desire for anything, u have no aspiration, nothing,u wake up in the morning sad with no reason, sometimes u feel to cry again u dont know why , if someone ask u what happen with u why sad u have no explanation u cant tell why, u just feel this way , in some cases people stop having desire to live and think about kill themselves, depression is a very serious matter not just a bad mood for moment . Rich people, singers, actors with no obvious reason to be in depression as they had everything we will think they wanted: money, love, health etc they suffered from depression some killed themselves . Specialists say is everything from chemicals in brain, lack of serotonin ... so pills anti depression contain this... depression come usually associated with anxiety a continue worry about everything .. u can find plenty of explanation online about depression...

Could be bipolar. I was getting depressed for no reason and then got hypo manic and was diagnosed bipolar 2.

Luckily it was bipolar 2. With bipolar 1 you go really mad.

Agree Cherry and sorry to hear what you dealing with !

Depression can be cause by lot of reason. Loss of love one, like a partner, family member. Can be places you visited or friends who moving on in their life. A favourite pet who you miss so much.

It very dangerous depression and a silent killer as you stated Cherry. Lot of people stay quiet and always act happy, when are they really sad and depress inside. It like you said Cherry, you can't switch it off. Depression has taken life of 2 of my punting friends

In 2017, I develop feeling and fell in love with a Lady, I met by chance. But she has a partner in her life and it was too complicated to even go there. Which I still have feeling for her and miss her even now.

I still think of her and at night it worse, as I lay in my bed, looking out my window up at the stars and think of her. To which other Ladies I meet and met in my life, are beautiful Ladies. But she is the Lady who capture my heart now.

I only ever told the whole story to 2 Escorts that I met. Which one Escort who able to read my mind, said you are in love with someone and only few min chat pass. It easier to talk to them , them my Ladies friends. But is it depression I dunno, but it hurt everyday to think of her.

Good luck FetishCherry and stay strong, as help is out there. I will have a cappuccino and doughnuts with me, if we ever meet FetishCherry

I would be cautious about these things. They prey on peoples desperation. It a bit like these diet fads every three months that promise you how to lose weight.

There was a documentary on netflix about these people who had really weird diseases like lyme disease and they were trying all these weird things to try and overcome their illnesses. Their desperation not to be ill and in pain made them naive. And people took advantage then.

ECT was twice as good (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4131106/)

ECT worked for about 50% of patients it was prescribed for, and these patients volunteered for ongoing further sessions. It wasn’t all bad, in fact it was very useful in certain cases.

I haven’t any experience with TMS, but there is good science behind it, and if it works for some folks, well that’s great.
