This was the murder of 3 members of the group. It was carried out jointly by the UDR ulster Defense Regimeny, part of the British Army the police and the illegal UVF ulster volunter force. This was one of the most blatant joint operations. There were others, probably the Dublin and Monaghan bombings plus at least one bombing in Dundalk.
Bad times when ordinary people rightly considered the police as enemy
Sadly most of it is true. Following the tragic killings all of the Irish Showbands based in the south (the Republic) refused to play venues in the north, not just from fear but to send a message that what happened was totally wrong.
Me being an ignorant foreigner , am I to understand that the UK govt was complicit And
an instigator of terrorist attacts / tactics on native peoples of Ireland ?
: hard border . Brexit . Are those old lions dead and sleep ?

The answer to question is that members of the security forces were convicted. Whether the murders were sanctioned by British military intelligence or just allowed is debatable. UK gov claims it was not authorised but some in authority did allow it to happen. It was not isolated.
The B Specials part of the North Police Royal Ulster Constabulary RUC helped the UVF burn Catholics out of areas in East Belfast in 1969.
They also attacked Civil Rights marches in 68 and 69, in front of BBC and other cameras. It was the attacks on those marchers that started the “ troubles” or war. None of this justifies what the IRA did later
Dublin bombings, 3 on the one day (May 1974) at off Grafton st. on Talbot st. and Parnell st. (all D1 or D2) plus Monaghan that evening was the biggest loss of life in a day, 27 in Dublin and 7 in Monaghan town. Ulster Volunteer Force UVF did it. However Garda and Irish military believe that the UVF were not capable and must have got help from individuals within the British army, probably the UDR Ulster Defence Regiment part of the British Army and the SAS the elite unit of the British army.
