Exclamation EU to force Sex Workers to charge VAT on services

EU are set to force member countries to collect VAT (Value added tax) from services provided by sex workers.

An EU directive from 2016 forcing governments to collect this VAT has been largely ignored in most EU countries as it was considered too difficult to enforce but this directive became EU law in October 2018.

A unnamed source in the Irish revenue commissioners said "this is a tax we are legally compelled to collect now and with Brexit tension in the EU Ireland can no longer be seen to ignore this tax"

Tax rate on services in Ireland is 13.5% and revenue commissioners will require Sex workers who have not been charging VAT on services since October 2018 to charge VAT from now on.

It's 13.5% but for an out call will it be more espicealy if she supplys ppe gear and miscellaneous items it go very easily go in to the higher bracket 21% as it could be classed as a supply and fit service so the ladies on this site would want to have good accountants and busier one maybe go as a ltd company

So I packed up all her clothes

Yes. Remember Capone was jailed for tax evasion. Tax is due on all income unless exempt.

How can the state set laws and rules regarding VAT on services provided by sex workers if the state has labelled the transaction as being illegal? (And yes, that also applies to transactions in which only the client is criminalized... a criminal transaction is a criminal transaction).

I would love to hear what a solicitor has to say about this. Sorry if this has ready been raised though, I didn't bother reading the thread.

As with many goods and services why not apply any due tax at the point of entry?
    Not hard really.
