The 9/11 moon landings were an outside job
Escort rates were I believe higher back then but,
the economy was rotten to the core. One in four males was working in construction ,building houses in the middle of nowhere that they were talking about pulling down a couple of years later.Money was supplied by crazy lending from banks here and across Europe and ultimately much of that money originated from a booming Chinese economy. Borrowing and spending were out of control. The chickens came home to roost in 2008 with a near collapse of the worldwide banking system. It particularly hit here in 2008,2010.The recession bottomed out in 2013 and the economy started to rise again. Many of those who brought property for top dollar in '05 to '08 are still saddled with unaffordable mortgages or are only now getting close to being repossessed. Lots of those construction workers (and others blowing money frivolously back then) and their families ended up in Australia, Canada,N.Zealand.
So yes the economy was marvellous back in 05 to '08.
The virtual cessation of building for a number of years (and continued drip feeding of building land onto the market ) after the crash is still having an effect as today's house prices are back to near '08 levels and rental accommodation prices are considerably above the previous height of 2008.
But it's all good news for the future as the shambolic Brits next door are in danger of plunging out of the EU with no deal, continued Trump isolationist economic policies, future EU pressure on tax harmonisation (incl
Ireland's Corporation Tax rate) and the inevitable rising of European interest rates from historically rock bottom rates.
Any significant rise in European interest rates will suck huge sums out of the Irish economy to service the Irish National Debt of over 200 billion-60 billion of which was sunk into the bottomless pit of the rotten Irish banking system a few years ago.
