To the whole of this thread.
Prison should be the very last option for a judge to make but of course it isn’t because these prisons need inmates to justify the costs of them. I think if you looked a lot harder into the lives of offenders you will find that they themselves were once abused or came from lives none of us could ever begin to imagine. Lives filled with abuse, hate, poverty and even crime.
Are these people criminals or victims of their circumstances or upbringings?
The facts are that some people know no different or are forced into crime. I think it is a very small percentage of people who are actual legitimate criminal psychopaths.
The focus should never be on rehabilitation because once you have a criminal record your life is basically over (whether you are sent to prison or not) so the likelihood of reoffending is of course high. Prison invest all this money on education etc and you might have earned yourself a PhD whilst inside but good luck getting anyone to employ you once you get out. It’s a waste of time. Ireland also has a thing called HUMAN RIGHTS and thankfully they do because if you found yourself being charged and found guilty of a crime you didn’t commit (which happens ALOT) you’ll be thankful that your HUMAN RIGHTS exist!
What needs to happen is more support for parents and children. Then it would never get this damn far to begin with!!!!
You need to remember that the generation now is living in the shadows of a huge amount of institutionalised and normalised sex abuse. Did you know that 80% of women are in prison because of a man!!!!
This thread is utterly horrifying.
Do some proper research then go spout your bullshit somewhere else.
End rant....
Wow, that is dangerously naive.
