Bankrupt the church maybe yhen they will take this seriously
Men & Women of the cloth, men & women of God........... more interested in protecting their wealth then delivering justice.
You're all going straight to this hell place you spout about.
"I don't want to go to heaven. None of my friends are there."
Oscar Wilde
Stop me if im wrong but didnt theCatholic Church take a vow of poverty. which is funny cuz the Vatican is one of the richest places on earth
" Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, the soul of a soulless condition,it is the OPIUM OF THE PEOPLE." -----
Communist philosopher Karl Marx`s observation of Religion back in the 1840`s is even more poignant today.
The Roman Catholic Church is as a crutch to the Irish people,-- alas it is so theocratically
corrupt, its teachings are so obviously flawed, but the laity follow it, as "Lambs to the Slaughter."
Remove , or kick away this "Crutch" --- would Irish society tumble and fall ?
Would Ireland be a better or a worse Nation without Catholicism ?
An interesting question Llamedos. One I'd like to know the answer to though & there's only 1 way to know ..................
An Ireland post revolution, no R.C. Church & no F.F. These 2 arrogant, power-crazed bodies of people have decided that they have some kind of God given right to wield power & control over us since the forming of this state & I would like to see them all ousted & their establishments destroyed. They have colluded to use & abuse trust & power & bring so many people of this country to our knees ....... both spiritually & economically.
Let the revolution begin !
"I don't want to go to heaven. None of my friends are there."
Oscar Wilde
Ah now I would be for the abolition of the church (where wouldn all the oaps go?)
The Church us flawed in so many ways but some people do find comfort there. Karl Marx is a hypocrite all for the workers totaly against capatilism but he was funded by capatilism. His collegue father Engles a wealthy ManchesterFactory owner bankrolled him
The lay people of Ireland follw these taechings as it is pert of their faith. They follow the mantra of fides qurum intellectum or faith seeking understanding and although the the teachings seem flawed and far fetched they part of their faith
Now im not pro church or anything There are a few "bad apples " in the church but it is only the minority
There lays the problem then Dozer, for surely as the saying goes, -----
" One bad apple will turn the whole barrel rotten."
The R/C reaction to exposure of a "bad apple" is not to eject it from the barrel, but to secrete and burry it deeper within .
Nads spoke of the ultimate solution, but whom has the Gonads big enough to instigate the nesseccary movement ? --- in Ireland the hand in glove scerario concerning Religion and
Politics is a total abhorrence .
I agreewith your bad apple scenario contaminating the rest and yes something must be done. some pressure on the R/C hierarchy perhapse bankruptcy power taken away but the erradication of a whole religous movement would seem too much if not impossible
Of course ,we are discussing merely a hypothesis here but in all seriousness a realistic and attractive alternative has to be established initially.
You cannot remove the crutch until a new support is in place.Fresh bricks have to be laid
prior to the old wall being knocked. ---- what is the answer ?
Can true democracy be delivered and maintained ?
Is there a neccessity for a religious belief in todays world ?
Can Religion and Politics be segregated ?
Does humanity need a personal conscience before God ?
( is God`s omnipresence observing me whilst I shaft E-I selected pussy ? !!!! ) - ha ha!
He Possibly is.
As for the overthrowing of the church , Im sure this would be the perfect time as there is a decreased n umber of belivers around. There will however be a need for religieon in everytime as we all worry about our mortality and question is there anything beyond this life.
For all its faults Religous faith does give us a moral compass, but as the infamous theologian said it is better to be excommunicated than to deviate from your conscious
