Default 'Gay cake' appeal: Christian bakers Ashers lose appeal

The Christian owners of a Northern Ireland bakery have lost their appeal against a ruling that their refusal to make a "gay cake" was discriminatory.

Actually i think it is very unfair on them , surely they have a right not to do business with somebody they disagree with . If it was me personally i would make the cake and charge accordingly but i would like the option not to be forced to do business with any person i did want to .
They are running a private business , not setting government policy .
They also have been specifically targeted which in my opinion is unfair , is there only 1 bakery in NI?
    Other opinions are allowed

People ought not to be obliged to act against their principles - no matter how much we might want to disagree or mock their beliefs and "imaginary friends".

There's something cruel about forcing people to go against their religious beliefs.
I believe boycott and protests would be more appropriate.
Better to show people the right way and give them time to accept/adapt.

If they had just refused the business they may have got away with it. Legal principle that you are not obliged to enter into business with anyone, without stating a reason.

Problem they originally accepted the business and then changed their minds, and then made a political/religious statement why they changed their mind.

I agree their course of action was unwise. But there is no law against changing your mind.

Interesting comment from gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell.

"This verdict is a defeat for freedom of expression.

"As well as meaning that Ashers can be legally forced to aid the promotion of same-sex marriage against their wishes, it also implies that gay bakers could be forced by law to decorate cakes with homophobic slogans."
