A Lucky escape?
Our government would have you believe that they are fighting people trafficking, while supporting the wholesale trafficking of young Irish people out of this country.
This is the story of young friend of mine, fed up of not getting a fair chance to work and only offered €20 a week to live on by the government, as he was under 20 and living at home.
Following a couple of interviews over Skype, he headed off to a European country to work on a 3 month contract. When he got there, he finds out that his new employer is just an agency and that the job that they wanted him for has fallen through, but that they were confident that they would find him more work and asked for his passport so that they could properly register him. He smelled a rat, lied that he hadn't his passport on him and promised that he would return in the afternoon. One cheap Ryanair flight and he was back in Ireland. But what was really going on?
This is the second story like this that I have heard in a year, both young Irish guys and European countries. Strikes me that there are similarities to stories of young girls being tricked into non existing jobs in Ireland. What life awaited them if they didn't get the fuck out of there. I presume that there are others, both male and female, this can't just be happening to people that I know.
Young Irish people are being driven abroad by government policy. Are some of them being trafficked into the sex trade or slave labour? Is there anyone looking out for them?
My wife caught me wearing ladies underwear and threatened to leave me.
So I packed up all her clothes
And left.
