The Eagle has landed! On July 20, 1969, the Eagle lunar landing module, carrying U.S. astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin ("Buzz") Aldrin, landed on the Moon, and several hours later Armstrong became the first person to set foot on its surface.

After slightly over 6 and a half hours sitting on the lunar surface Neil Armstrong finally exits the landing vehicle Eagle at 2.56 AM (GMT) on July 21,1969 and is joined by Buzz Aldrin about twenty minutes later.
The third astronaut Michael Collins remains orbiting the moon in the command module Columbia, at a height of sixty miles.
