A friend request has to be accepted by the other party, while a contact does not. You can also play around with profile privacy settings, putting different restrictions in place for contacts and friends.Originally Posted by frumsp

It looks like you figured out the whole group thing.
Don't ask me what the difference between "friend" and "contact" is 'cos I haven't a clue.
