Valtteri Bottas crashed while making his final run. Still qualified sixth. However, Max Verstappen completed part of his run under waved yellow flags. Strictly speaking, he should have aborted his lap. Will he get a penalty? Shame if he did, after such a great run.

Max Verstappen has been given a three-place grid penalty and will start fourth, behind Charles Leclerc, Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton.
He had got away with it, it seems, but made unfortunate comments at a news conference admitting he had seen the accident, had seen the flags, but had not slowed down. The marshals seemed happy at first to ignore his infringement, especially as he had another fast lap time that would have put him on pole. His remarks at the news conference has forced their hand.
Moral of the story? Keep your mouth shut!

Silly boy. I suspected they would delete his last lap but as you said, his previous run was good enough for pole. For the sake of the race I’d rather he was starting at the front with the Ferraris chasing him down. However, you can’t just ignore a crash like that and then admit it afterwards. Another reminder of his lack of maturity. Still hope he wins the race.

Lewis Hamilton starts the Mexican Grand Prix third, knowing he could be a six-time champion by the end of it. The Mercedes driver has to out-score team-mate Valtteri Bottas by 14 points to seal the title in Mexico City, which means he has to be on the podium at least and hope Bottas' result goes his way.
    The Truth is out there.

Chaotic start. Lewis Hamilton down to fifth, after contact with Sebastian Vettel. Max Verstappen loses a lot of places. Back in eighth.

Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen make contact. Max Verstappen has puncture. Pole-sitter's challenge must be effectively over.

Lewis Hamilton is fourth at the moment. Really needs to win to clinch the title at this race unless Valtteri Bottas has an incident or retires.

Lando Norris's pit stop is bad. Wheel nut not on right. Pushed back to pits and then sent out. Lot of time lost. Still all cars running; not retirement yet.
