    Default selling my laptop

    I am getting a new laptop and selling my old one, I had porn videos and other stuff of mine on the harddrive but have formatted it, so is it ok to sell laptop now with the harddrive.

    Sure just let them on it for the new owner, save him searching.

    If you have formatted it, you will have lost the operating system and it will need to be put back on. But everything on the disc will be erased.

    but now im told that information on the HD even if formatted can be got back

    You need to do a "low level" format of the hard disk. This means writing an blank file on every sector of the disc. A quick format will only erase the directories but the files, although invisible, will still be there and recoverable.
