countries can set their own law, EU does let you do some things you know on your own, VRT is illegal too but yet we are made pay it too.

There is a particular derogation for Tax. Perhaps there is also some derogation for like moral or religious issues too ? You can sell hash in cafes in Amsterdam as a business but you cant here.
