    Default Anxiety

A topic that not many people like to talk about or find it hard to talk about.

Anxiety is a feeling of unease, such as worry or fear, that can be mild or severe.
Everyone has feelings of anxiety at some point in their life – for example, you may feel worried and anxious about sitting an exam, or having a medical test or job interview.

This is something that can really effect your life and those around you in a bad way if it is not treated properly.

Many people don't realise that they have it or even know what to do when it comes to it.
Anxiety is something that many people suffer with and unfortunately they do alone.

This may tell you if you have anxiety or not.

    ---

I myself suffer from anxiety from time to time.
In fact, my first time getting an attack, I wasn't scared as I didn't know I had it, but I was more confused.
The first time was a few years ago when I was working elsewhere at the time, I felt a short at breath very quickly and my heart was racing so fast, over 200bpm and I had to sit down and rest for 5 minutes till it calmed down.
I felt that the more I had the attack, the more I found it easy to control, but it wasn't always that easy to control and I would be run down and tired.

    ---

Many of you guys here may not wish to talk about it, but it is always a good too.
    Nobody should ever suffer alone.
There are many ways of helping you or others, not to cure it, but to help deal with anxiety.

Did you know that even Salt Lamps are a good source of helping you?

My girlfriend got me one and when I'm watching TV in the evenings, I turn the lights of and turn my lamp on.
It is a nice relaxing sensation and I think that it does help me at times and thinking of getting some more for each room.

Are you suffer from it or know anybody that does?
If so, how do you deal with it?

+1 Floki. Another anxiety sufferer here. My bouts range from not-that-bad to absolutely crippling (panic attacks, etc). I had it for at least 20 years before I even knew what the hell was wrong with me. Ever since I found out and read all about it, not to mention finding out that so many others have it, I've been much, much better. I still get bad spells now and then, but by-in-large things are good.

its both, definitely. Talk to your doc about it if you haven't. Its very controllable with meds available these days. I never got so bad that I had to go on them but I would do so in a heartbeat if I ever felt it getting the better of me. Life's just to short to wait and see if it'll pass.

Depression and anxiety are not the same for everyone. A guy I knew got hit took antidepressants and was fine about 10 weeks later, others it has been more complex but you can, if not cure it completely manage it/reduce it. See your doctor but try to get a range of solutions others than meds alone also exercise is know to be highly effective. On Anxiety breathing exercises can help. Fear of depression is a multiplier of its impact,if you can be calm and know you can overcome it you are on the way to a better place already but its not easy to get to that point of wisdom.

Depression is well know for its ability to keep you there, it feels familiar and a challenge is that if you get better, even a little bit the worry is that you can get depressed again which brings a whole fresh suite of pain so many chose to stay where they are in a low state of depression it avoids the disappointment and fear of regression, if that makes sense. I do not know your condition for your hands, sorry but will look it up. I can see elements of possibly agoraphobia and social isolation all v understandable in what you have said. I would suggest you get counselling sooner rather than later as this process can bed in as it were.

On counselling it a bit like auditioning you may take awhile to find the right fit for you, but it is definitely worth it and for those that settle for staying in "safe" place of familiar depression that I mentioned , well its not static its progressive but they cant see that and they get worse, so if I were you would look to get help here if you do not mind me saying. My only caution about coming on here is that in the past some posters have been a bit challenging about depression, if that happens here then feel free to PM me, it may not but just saying. As to others having worse to deal with each person is unique so what is to some easy for others it is not, think of it like a tight rope walker is good with heights but if you are afraid of heights its a v different game, so it is with illness, pain and many other things so do not be hard on yourself if its bad for you its bad no more no less.
