Just bewilders me why they ( Government ) dont go after the ppl they really want who are not legit.

In my opinion, ireland is still under church rule, the hypocrisy considering the shit that they got up to over the yrs !! No real justice there !!!!

Id say escorts can expect a huge turn down in visitors once it passes. ( not being negative on purpose ).

The Pigz down South will try their damndest to enforce this as they know The Minister for everyone elses interior is gagging for it!
I don't think traficking matters will be the focus of their attention as that is already a serious crime and we never hear of anything being done about it which also may indicate it really only exists in the minds of TV /Film scriptwriters and a few TORLERs bigging it up to make money out of it!

Think about it, it's ideal for The Southern Pigz -

1 They get to engratiate themselves with the Minister.
2 All they have to do is look up a few sites, get the escort addresses and sit on their fat arses in squad cars outside those apartments, waiting for punters to come out, who will be very cooperative to avoid publicity.
3 They also have total discretion - they will leave the great and the good alone, their own alone and target working class punters, simple as!
4 Even though the intent of this law is primarily to make sex workers suffer, the Pigz may take the view that they will leave the escorts alone (AFAIK, there is a proposed 6 month prison sentence possible for a sexworker under a first offence with this insanity!) and just concentrate on pulling their punters outside their apartments, so effectively the state becomes the biggest pimp of all!

The Minister for evryone else's interior is hoping to have it as law by the end of the year!

It's looking like it will be enshrined in the law books within weeks. I think this will first and foremost have a drastic effect on the income of escorts in the short to medium term anyway. Many punters are going to hang up their cocks as a result of this at least until they see how the cops are enforcing it and if they can identify ways of circumventing the law. Many on here seem to think that it will be difficult for the law to be implemented due to lack of evidence. This I fear is a misconception. The police do their homework on these matters in advance and since many escorts work in pairs -effectively in brothels- raids will be made and if you are on the premises you are fucked. With an independent working alone from an apartment or a hotel room it will be wore difficult to prove but it is very likely that the judge would take the side of the cops in most situations particularly if they linked your phone records with the phone of an escort who advertises their services. They also may have the option often favoured by the cops in the US of entrapment which has also been used over here in the past on the streets. They may also adopt an approach which appears to be used in Sweden-don't have a link but there is a video somewhere- they locate where an escort is working and actually stake out the building and film a client entering and leaving an apartment and tap them on the shoulder on the way down the stairs. Most guys in this situation would shit themselves and confess on the spot and enter into a damage limitation process. Personally I would be the type of person to stand up to the fuckers and if necessary stare them down but I am getting on in years and don't really want to spend time and money fighting the old bill in court.

At the end of the day punting is about to become a much more riskier business. You will have to weight up the pros and cons and many will in the short term at least opt out and go into retirement. Personally I have no intention of going into retirement but will now be much more cautious than previously and will be very careful who I see. This could prove very problematical as good escorts you know move on can you really afford to take a chance with new-comers?

The legal battle will be interesting I would like to take up the good fight myself but a lack of resources dictates otherwise. Should the legal approach fail to remove these laws it will be grim indeed and in any case it may well take years for the courts to make a final decision on the matter. The other solutions would appear to be weekend breaks in Europe every so often but punters who are used to a weekly service or more will not fancy this. One option I am considering partly due to this legislation-not open to all- is renting out my house and heading off somewhere- if there is anywhere left worth going to- for a few years. If I like it I would sell up and live out the time I have left on this earth not been treated as a criminal.

In conclusion I feel very sorry for the clients and escorts who don't have the options I have and many of whom will suffer as a result of this abomination. In particular there will be escorts who will be forced into more dangerous health and personal safety situations and some may even pay the supreme sacrifice. As with most other jurisdictions the police in this country have a poor record of dealing with violence committed against sex workers and while I would like to say a lot more on this subject it would not be wise to do so on this forum.

Two important points. The law up North has not been strictly enforced and while I am sure some punters have retired escorts have had the option of dividing their time between the two parts of the Island.
When and if the Gardai and the PSNI act in concert this will change the landscape and lead to some escorts going elsewhere. You bet your life the crimbo's are rubbing there hands with glee something that thick bitch of a MOJ can't see.
