Geothermal heating seems to be the thing now. However, they say you need to keep the heat on all the time, not a bad thing, but if the house is empty during the day you cannot switch it off because it would take a long time to heat up again.
Infrared, on the other hand, should heat up fairly quickly

Ive worked on a job where we suggested to the client to take them down. Over the years they fixed some paintings on the wall and in some areas shelves. The builder didnt give a shit and drilled straight through them.
If he checked the clients construction details he would have spotted this.
The client decided to go with our recommendation and bring in a contractor to pull the plaster of the wall and insulate the walls with higher u value insulation. Also installed geothermal heating and seemed happy with the outcome.
By the way im not trying to put you off just something to think about.
