Maybe we should follow them and rely on Usa, Asia and Britian for our trade as we rely on them anyway,
so a breakaway might not harm us at all?. The truth is I haven't a clue really.

Of course another question is which country is next.
I can't help feel others have been waiting to see what happens in the UK.
    Will Spain be next?
Is this the start of the end of the EU?

Countries rumoured to be next in line to consider leaving:

    Spain
    France
    Austria
    Denmark

In my opinion the UK made the right decision. It's time the UK made decisions for itself instead of a committee of EU leaders, none of which were elected by any member of the general public of any of the EU member countries.

We will be staying put. A lot of our trade is with the continent as well. A lot of these American companies are here for several reasons, one of which is our membership and access to the EU, we still get a billion a year in farm subsidies from the EU, a stand alone currency for us would be a disaster and probably plunge in value if we readopted a punt. The Brits aren't going to shoulder us in Sterling. We will take some hurt either way but life goes on.
There are also possible questions about the long term commitment of places like Holland and Hungary to the EU.

Ordinary British people will gain nothing one way or the other. Your lives will continue exactly as before (once you go through a little economic turmoil)
One set of leaders here or there ain't gonna make one whit of difference to the bulk of ordinary British.

Yes there will be a period of readjustment, which will trigger ups & downs on UK economy. The UK is still part of Europe, just not part of EU. We import more than we export, those countries who we import from, will still want to trade with the UK. The stability will be even stronger, once Cameron leaves in October & the country can move on.
