A magpie is easy to identify because it is the only large black and white bird on the island.
If it wasn’t a magpie it may have been a jackdaw.

Jackdaws build their nests by dropping sticks down a chimney until one sticks, and they build on it. Sometimes they just build until the entire chimney is blocked.
It is a warning; if you are concerned about the house, it needs a screen over the chimney. Not only will it stop them building in the chimney it will keep them getting down into the room.

Magpies are attracted to shiny objects.. create a trail of all your gold and diamond jewellery and he'll be sure to follow it. Guaranteed to work although they have a tendency to steal it also.
