I am from Cork. I think we Irish have terrible accents. It is made worse by our general nervousness as a people. I don't like middle class English accents either - something smug about a well-spoken person from the south of England; just grates on me.

I know I'm a bit late with the accent thing here but have to say that a posh English accent makes me weak at the knees. Emma Thompson's voice is cracking. Not her buto the voice..................save me....lol

Yeah, a certain type of English middle class accent and a certain type of female voice.


But not the disdainful, put on Mgt Thatcher type accent.

Well you should be saying that about Cork (in your opinion) not generalising Irish accents.
I'm from Dublin and most of my clients say i have no accent.... it's a very neutral accent.
When you're raised by a teacher i suppose that happens.
I do agree that the horsey horsey south london accent is awful.... but that's not ireland thank fook!!!
