In fact she could have a great reputation as a garda!

It would be interesting if she were fired and took a case for unfair dismissal, to see what would happen. The judge could be a client!

    Thanks is for the comment.
Didn't the same thing happen to Laura Lee only she was working in a law firm at the time or something.
Her employers found out she was escorting and she lost her job.
She took them to court and lost again.

There is definitely some clause in their contracts about other work. I remember hearing not so long ago how off duty guards could no longer moonlight as bouncers. If the story is true the powers that be would find a way to fire her. Then they'd tell us they've cleaned up the force.

I'm not taking the piss here and like a debate.
You cant have a officer of the lay working as a escort.

Look at it this way, Gardi testify in court based on there cases and arrests they have to.
What if she was involved in a sting on a brothel and had to testify in court.
What is to stop the defendants using her other job as a escort against her so they can get of like she only arrested me cause i was competition in her area.
The prosecutions case would fall apart and they would lose the case.
If she is working in a brothel she is breaking the law..... Bye bye Garda career. But if she works alone she is not breaking any law at present.

You cannot have an officer of the law working as an escort? Why? Unless you feel every escort is unworthy in some way and is not an equal member of society.

You see my argument is that the public perception of escorting is negative. But just because you have a perception of something doesnt make it a legal premiss upon which to fire someone.

I think some of the escorts i have met are smart intelligent self sufficient women who do no harm and provide a valuable service.

I am sure most people here agree.

There was a teacher fired years ago because she had a baby and wasn't married. She worked in a catholic school and she was fired on moral grounds. Years later her firing was deemed an injustice in a court of law.

As i said we need to challenge perception in order to change it.

Yes you are right but yet other civil servants can hold an other job in the private sector
The whole civil servant group is totally corrupt

I just explained why you cant have a Garda or solicitor for that matter working as a escort.
And i never said that the guard was working in a brothel, i said what if she raided or was part of a team who raided a brothel.

    Read it again.

Apologies. I misread your post... On a phone here so print is small....

I don't think the prosecution case would necessarily fail in that case to be honest but i do agree it is murky waters.

Like a garda moonlighting as a taxi driver arrests an unlicensed taxi.... She only did it you honour to get me off the road so she could get my business. Perhaps but evidence is evidence.

However i dont think yours is the logic that will be applied if she is fired. Its the preception that she is doing something bad that would bring the force into disrepute.... Thats a perception.
