How you claim Capitalism is the best System when you can see what it did in this country and the world over , I'm afraid capitalism is the cause of the world's problems as it is all about making huge profits and giving all the wealth to a select few. On Your point of the cost of the Luas would Have to increase if the workers get a pay rise, this would not have to happen if the company are just willing to make a little less profit than the huge amount they already make. All I want for everyone is a wage where we can all get along and live and let live. ps I'm beginning to sound like a politican now enough said on this matter.
    Luas drivers are currently paid €36000 climbing to just over €42000 depending on years of service.
    They are seeking a 50% pay increase for driving something that doesn't even have a steering wheel.
    Generous holidays I might add too.

    Hardly minimum wage.
    This is slightly more than a stilled tradesman is paid.
    So someone who serves an apprenticeship for 4 years is currently earning less than a Luas driver whose training was at a guess half a day.

    Put up what they pay there CEO and Gerry Madden their MD!! , or is it that they don't want the public to see what their wages are?.
    Yet they love telling everyone how big their staff are paid. {typical}
    I know they are not on Minimum wage but as I have said before 36,000 working anti social hours in our Capital City is not big money.
    As for your skilled workers if they cant earn earn 40,000 a year they should go and take up another profession as I know plenty of Good sparky's,
    chippies and block layers and they wouldn't get out of bed for less than £300 a day and they wont have to work on Easter sunday or Xmas eve,
    New years eve or New years day either. So when you can tell me me what Gerry Madden and the CEO earn .I will reply to you otherwise I have
    said my piece and back the working man all the way.

    I think you just pick the parts to suit your argument and think you are right. You still not able to find what the CEO and MD are paid? .

    You are right they have an important job, on your other point why not just sack everyone and nobody work .

    Well if you are earning say £35,000 a year in Dublin and rearing a family paying a mortgage and running a car , I don't think you would be visiting many ladies

    I honestly don't think so, I only started visiting Escorts in the last two years as I could not afford to do so with the last 20 odd years as I was paying a £1000 pm mortgage
    rearing 4 kids running 2 cars and generally just paying my bills. Now we had a combined income of over £70k a year but apart from a family holiday every year I would not
    have had surplus money to spend on Escorts and I don't drink or smoke so maybe a single guy on 42k could but I doubt a family guy.
