The two Haas drivers now will start at the back of the grid. They had out of spec rear wings. Accepted it was not deliberate, so only penalty is grid drop.

Charles Leclerc lives in Monaco. So this is his home race.
He has never finished on the podium, with a best finish of fourth.
It is said that pole is 90% of the way to winning the race at Monaco, where overtaking is almost impossible.

But this is Charles Leclerc’s third Monaco pole in four races. It is a difficult track with the walls so close and few run-off areas.
Ferrari last won here 2017 (Sebastian Vettel), and before that in 2001 (Michael Schumacher)
Last three wins here have been Red Bull, two wins for Max Verstappen and one for Sergio Pérez
But his track does not suit Red Bull. It is bumpy and uneven, and the Red Bull aerodynamic set up is hard for them

    Multiple Winners

    Ayrton Senna [6]
Graham Hill, Michael Schumacher [ 5]
    Alain Prost [4]
Stirling Moss , Jackie Stewart, Nico Rosberg , Lewis Hamilton [3]
Juan Manuel Fangio, Maurice Trintignant, Niki Lauda, Jody Scheckter , David Coulthard, Fernando Alonso, Mark Webber, Sebastian Vettel, Max Verstappen. [2]

So are max's chances of winning today slim on that basis?

Very slim. Case of just getting as many points as possible.

Carlos Sainz looks like his brakes have locked.

Big shunt at back as well. Sergio Perez's Red Bull out of shape, hit by cars behind, completely shredded. Red flag. Fortunately everyone seems OK

With hard tyres, it might be possible to go to the end on them after the restart. Even if they don't last to the end, long run on hards and then a short, fast stint on the softs.

Kevin Magnussen involved in that incident. Unlikely to be penalised, but if he were, he is just two points from a race ban.

Carlos Sainz has been a winner with the red flag. Problems sorted out, at the restart, he will be third again.

Race will restart in ten minutes with cars in original positions. Standing start from the lights again.
