7 under, cards a 65.

Cant see anyone beating that today, I'd be shocked. Will surely be leading by 1 at least going into tomorrow.

Absolute shocker for McIlroy and bar a miracle there is surely no way he will make the halfway cut now. A better round for Graeme McDowell with an opening score of +1 .At least he is in with a chance of still being in the tournament for the weekend.

Lowry is still on -4 after 16 holes. He has birdied the 17th and is now just 2 shots off the lead on -5.

He bogeys the final hole so finishes on 4 under. Great result for the Irishman, never heard his name mentioned beforehand at all. Heard McElroy mentioned plenty but he has shit himself once again.

Lowry bogied the 18th but even so his 1st round score of -4 is good enough for a share of 3rd place and at 3 shots off the lead is well placed to be in contention for the Championship.
There are still a few late starting groups on the course but at this stage no one will catch Garcia in the round and he will be the leader at the end of play tonight.
