Turns out he was also a newbie and had read discretion was important so had put an envelope quietly to the side.

Now I always try to remember to ask if the fee is not volunteered.

Why would anyone intentionly wait until after?

Some people might say they forgot their money and must go get it out of the car.

99% of clients are lovely but their will always be messers.
