I hope the guy is ok, my friend committed suicide(hung herself) 7 years ago, in my opinion its a selfish act, but i think those who are going to actually do it, do not warn others. Just my 2 cents.

It's not selfish,it's obviously not rational ,it's just a point some people reach,I agree it's very rare someone would warn others,well at least not intentionally.

If people in that position were rational then obviously it would be a selfish act,the problem is they are not rational.

I can't change my feelings towards this leaving loved ones behind without seeking /caling out for help, is an act of selfishness in my opinion - mental illness or not.

The mental illness part is the key,It's not rational thought,My best friend killed himself,his Family whom I am still close to, still blame themselves and that's why I understand your position,I knew him better than anyone and I know he loved them,his problem was he hated himself,it obviously is one case and perhaps it's not the same for everyone but that's why I have this view.

5 year I would see him every day we were like brothers .but I didn't know there was anything wrong
I found it hard to forgive him .he just had asked me I would have done anything for him

It something can be a pride thing too, not wanting to ask for help may be perceived as weak.

It's difficult mate,you have to remember the good times and also what you said 'you would have done anything for him' IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE ,IF HE ALLOWED YOU THAT CHANCE THEN YOU WOLD HAVE HELPED.

True, my friend had left almost a 20 page a4 suicide letter, the police wouldn't even give it to her mother due to suicidal tendencies in the family.


If only we could turn back time and see things through their eyes.


Such a morbid thread but an eye opener that there is help out there. I hope no one feels alone this christmas x

Or if only they could see what we would do for them and how much we cared.
