No ladies have commented or explained the problem some women have with the word "She".

Maybe is one of those (1,000's of) mysteries about women that men are never supposed to figure out??

    Time for a coffee........

Thought you'd be younger than that. I remember watching it with wide eyes and tight trousers!

Why do some women have a problem with it?

"On his way home from work, Brian went to the shop to buy milk. He also bought a newspaper" is as far as I know correct grammer.

    so is

"On her way home from work, Mary went to the shop to buy milk. She also bought a newspaper".

I had occasion to use the word "She" while in conversation with someone today and I was promptly reminded by the woman to never call her "She" again. WHY?? WTF?
The context was something like this. I was speaking to someone as we were leaving a meeting with "Mary" within earshot and in reply to a query I said:

"Yes, Mary took the minutes of the meeting so she will circulate a copy to everyone later."

Now if I said "Yes, Mary took the minutes of the meeting so Mary will circulate a copy to everyone later." it would in my opinion be bad grammer. I was taught to not repeat a personal noun in the same sentence or the sentence immediately following.

and if I said "she (with a sideways look to indicate who I was referring to) took the minutes of the meeting so she will circulate a copy to everyone later." I would understand that to be demeaning.

I really don't understand why some women have as issue with the correct use of the word "She" .. in a sentence in which you have already referred to the woman by her name. So can any one enlighten me?

I mean would any woman here object to this sentence in a review. "I met Maya yesterday and she was lovely".(Obviously if your name isn't Maya then you would be pissed!)

So come on ladies ... help me out here.

and lads, have you ever gotten into trouble using the "she" word?

I don't think the problem is with the grammar, but with the lack of courtesy.
It is considered bad form all the way down to plain rude to talk about somebody around you on the third person like he or she is not here.
It is one of these little things one should have been taught by their mother.
Some people are more sensitive about this than others, usually those that have been at the receiving end of this sort of treatment before.
    On the same token is is downright insulting to name yourself first in a conversation. like for example you being somewhere with your wife having a conversation with someone and saying;
me and my wife went there and she loved it.
Nothing wrong with the grammar, but very rude, self serving and publicly disrespectful towards your wife. Don't be surprised if another woman comments on it, she probably is or was at the receiving end of such comment at some stage in her life.

    I agree with all that.

But, if I say "Mary is looking after that and SHE will get back to you later.......". What is wrong with that? Is it a case the women have heard the "She" word used disrespectfully so much that the correct use of it ruffles feathers now?

    Or what about the following:

Question: Will Mary be coming to the party? (Mary not in conversation but within ear shot and talking to someone else)

    Reply: Yes, she will.

    What's wrong with that?

I wouldn't say you are wrong in this case, but as I said some people are more touchy than others on the subject, others can be plain deluded. It's best to be mindful when meeting some one .
to be on the safe side with your first example you could omit the she all together and just say ; Mary is looking after that and will get back to you later.
for the second one ;' absolutely' would be the safest answer.
Having said that,in this particular case, there is nothing wrong with your phrasing as Mary is not part of the group or conversation.
