Escort Of The Month competition, which rules are in use now?

Since I first raised this question with Floki, then SmileySarah and event TomEA I have not got a clear answer. I have been tole the result is correct but no one can tell me what the final points for each are!

Well, I am confused myself. I tried to work this out but could not come up with the same answer as EI have.

These were the rules as of the time of the competition:

1. For each review submitted, a star ratings given for each area of the review will have a points value. The higher the outcome for each area selected, the more points that review will be worth. The escort with the highest points value by the end of the month will be declared the winner.
2. The month that the escort is announced the winner will be the winner based on the points totalled from the previous month; i.e. 'Miss September' is calculated from the reviews submitted in August, and so on.
3. Reviews will only count when a) the reviewer has held a message boards account for six months and b) their reviews will only be counted from their tenth review.
4. If a client resubmits a review for an escort that they have already visited, only their first review will have a points value. In any event, the new review will always replace the old review.
5. If we believe that a review is fake, we may disqualify an escort from the competition for the month. If there are more serious cases of cheating, we may disqualify escorts from all future competitions.
6. Escorts cannot win the competition two consecutive months. In the event of an escort receiving the highest points a second month in a row, the person in second place will take the winning spot.
7. Reviews that are submitted from a masked (proxified) or non-Irish/non-Northern Irish IP address will be deleted.
8. Once the winner has been announced for a particular month, any review points that are received for that month thereafter will not be counted or carried over into the next month.

This is how I calculated the points!

Sarah received a total of 11 reviews during September and Larissa received a total of 10 reviews submitted during the same period.

At this point I removed the reviews from clients with less than 10 reviews as per the rule 3.

I then removed the reviews from clients who have been registered for less than 6 months on the forum as per the rule 3.

Having removed those reviews Sarah is left with 6 reviews and Larissa still has 10!

I now had to check how many points each escort had accumulated.

Points are awarded in the following circumstances:
Overall Experience:
Rating Score
1 star = 0 review points
2 star = 0 review points
3 star = 1 review point
4 star = 1.5 review points
5 star = 2 review points

Would Repeat:
Yes = 1 review point
No = 0 review points

Would Recommend:
Yes = 1 review point
No = 0 review points

Sarah has in Overall Experience 5 x 5 star ratings and 1 x 4 star rating = 11.5 points

Larissa has in Overall Experience 10 x 5 star ratings = 20 points

Sarah has 6 Would Recommend and 6 Would Repeat giving her 12 points

Larissa has 10 Would Recommend and 10 Would Repeat giving her 20 points

Adding the Overall Experience, the Would Recommend and Would Repeat points together for each lady I got the following result:

Sarah has a total of 23.5 points

Larissa has a total of 40 points


It should also be noted that Sarah has 2 reviews for September that were submitted in October - theses don’t count as they were submitted after the deadline (they don't have a qualifying review count either).

So if this is correct how can Irish Sarah be the winner 23.5 points? Why is Larissa Laurentis not the winner with 40 points?

One thing that does need to be taken into consideration is rule 4 “repeat reviews” I believe Larissa has one repeat review so if this is correct then 4 points need to be subtracted from the original total of 40 which would leave her with 36!

So if there is a review that has to be removed my calculations lead me to the following points

Sarah has a total of 23.5 points

Larissa has a total of 36 points

Floki says "Sarah is the winner it's automatic and no details are necessary"

Either way I doubt you will receive a detailed answer which will clear this up! I can not figure out for the life of me how the winner was calculated — I tried using the rules as I understood them but I'm way off according to EI.

To be fair, i think Floki is a nice guy but not as dominant as Sam was, so he just tries to avoid conflict and criticism

In Floki's defence — he was off the day the winner was announced by EI on the forum. He posted the Official Congratulations thread the following day based on someone else's calculations.

That is true, but before posting the congratulations thread he had seen many people questioning the calculation. It makes no sense that he did not check the calculation before posting. He trusted the automatic calculation of software that had shown a large number of bugs, when the rules are simple enough to be checked easily by people. Very strange indeed!

You have a valid point there MidlifeCrisis. I was surprised to see the Official Congratulations thread being posted by him as he saw there were issues on the Thursday. Samlad use to include the points for first and second place in the Official Congratulations thread — this made it far more transparent for everyone and had it been done this time would have eliminated all the confusion and speculation surrounding the current competition results.
