    A naive view.
If pharma companies were not driven by profit, it would be the same as you an escort working for free.
If drug company profit is so outside the pale, we could go back to the early 1800s and use leeches for every ailment.
Dont be an arse. You know exactly what I mean. Of course money needs to go into research, hence the 100,000's of charities raising billions that are out there & also some profit but when pharmaceutical companies are worth mutli-billions, charging extortionate rates for drugs & not really exploring cannabis as a cure, it is abhorrent.

I was more caught up in the emotions of the good news last night and didn't mean any disrespect to anyone who has died or is dying from this awful disease!

It was a silly thing to say, but under the circumstances I'm sure you can forgive me for this!!

By the time a drug is proved effective, safe and has been licenced for use , tens and more likely hundreds of millions may have been spent. The drug company gets about 10 years of an exclusive patent on that drug before it goes generic and can be made by other companies.
The cost of producing an effective new drug , having started out with 100s of compounds that end up being discarded , is enormous.
Yes they may occasionally hit the jackpot but without profit , new drugs will not arise. In the Western world we have reasonable access to most drugs whether paying ourselves or through a health service. If you want to abhor something , abhor someone dying on a rubbish dump in the third world......We are reasonably well looked after in the West, comparatively speaking.

The fact there is a third world is beyond abhorrent & the western worlds pharmaceutical companies that use those in the third world as guinea pigs equally so!

Store a few stem cells from that umbilical cord , for that baby in the future , seems to be a fad of late.
