She may have not told him in case it freaked him out and he refused to try to get up to her. He may have said that he as not willing to walk past a doorman. That's why some people won't go to hotels.
Of course it is better to tell a client when there is a doorman, so they can be prepared and not jump out of their skin when they see one, but people don't always do what is best and people don't always react the way you would want them to. That's life!
I have no problems with hotels, hundreds of people walk in and out all the time, I'd dander in just to use the toilet if I needed to and have done.
If she'd told me about the doorman I would have been aware and therefore had a idea of a reaction. The fact he took me surprise had me running. A bit of a heads up about things like this wouldn't go amiss. Now I can't go near that apartment block for a while, least I know what to expect now if I go back.
