Not looking for a 'bite'. Just because my opinion differs from the herd doesn't mean I'm any less entitled to express it and certainly doesn't mean I'm looking for a reaction.

Its the nature of discussion boards. If we all posted the same thing it would be very boring round here, dont you think?

Can never understand why people stay in relationships where they feel compelled to cheat. Either fix it or fuck off. And even more confusing to me is the way they try to justify it. I'd love to see the faces of some of the guys on this site if their wives/partners used the same pathetic excuses for cheating that they do.
Would you not be a bit put out if you were "named and shamed" for using this site ?

I should have made my point clearer, sorry. From a privacy point of view, yes I would indeed be more than 'put out' I agree. But lets not be naive here, the main concern for users of Ashley Madison is not their privacy, rather than keeping their activities secret from their spouse/significant other.

And it is from that point of view that I have no sympathy for anyone that gets 'caught' as a result.

I'm far from an angel when it comes to relationships and I have one failed marriage behind me to support that but cheating, in any form, was never my thing. And no matter what your motivation, if you share any form of physical or emotional intimacy with another person outside of your relationship, then thats cheating.

Not the same thing at all. Not by a long shot. Be pedantic about it if you want but you know exactly what I meant by that.

Privacy for me (a single man) and privacy for a married man are two entirely different things. If I were a member of Ashley Madison, I only have to worry about my own blushes. A married man damages a lot more than his reputation and good name if he is exposed like that.

Married guys using that site are most preoccupied with maintaining their secret. Simple as.

Following that logic , you would have no problem with your work colleagues , family and friends knowing you visit escorts.
Fair play to your honesty , I prefer discretion

Where did I say that exactly? You'd do far better to read my posts rather than putting words in my mouth.

In fact, you already quoted the post above (#47) where I clearly said I woulld not be pleased to be 'outed' like that. The crux of my point is that I have no sympathy for married men or those in committed relationships who may or may not lose their relationships because of these hackers.

I am fully aware of the potential risks involved in being a member of any site and accept full responsibility if i suffer any ill because of it. The fundamental difference though is that I am not betraying anyone's trust by being member of this site or any other. Can a married guy say the same? Absolutely not.

How very simplistic. I personally don't agree with affairs. I've never had one and I don't intend to have one, however I am realistic to acknowledge that some people are in sexless relationships not just because there is a 'problem' with the relationship. People stay together for many reasons and often it is not just because they don't have the guts to leave, but because they still love their partner and/or it's better for everyone involved, or their partner is sick, suffering with depression or unable to have sex with them. Seeing an Escort is preferable to an affair, where things get a lot more personal and someone always gets hurt, if not all parties.

Of course I would like to think if I was with someone (after retiring from sex work), we would be able to enjoy each other in every aspect, but who knows what is around the corner. I could end up unable to have sex at some point or be with someone who can't have sex with me. That won't stop me loving them, but I accept that we both have needs.

Being in love with someone should mean wanting them to feel fulfilled and happy. Some times you have to trust what you have, which is far more than sex, but sex is a normal human need for most people and scientifically proven to reduce stress and anxiety etc, so good for our well being.

I'm not trying to justify it, I don't feel the need to. This is my honest opinion.

In my opinion you are a hypocrite ,your lack of sympathy for people in the Ashley Madison
Situation contradicts the fact that you wish anonymity in your own private live.
Married , single everyone deserves a bit of privacy .
And I don't like gloaters , I'm not subscribed to AM but I am also not judgemental
    Unlike some

Its simplistic because its realistic. Most of the examples that you mentioned are really rare and unusual cases ie: serious illness, depression etc. For the vast majority of people that are cheating, these circumstances do not apply at all. Most people are cheating because it takes less effort than it would to fix the problems in their relationship.

Again, situations like this are very very rare where someone is unable to physically have sex.

Both partners deserve to be fulfilled and happy. What about the person being cheated on? How happy would they be if they found out? Is their happiness not worth also considering. Seems to me that most people who cheat are interested in only their own happiness.

Bit of a copout, considering you just wrote three paragraphs, citing various rare circumstances, basically trying to justify cheating.
