Question What's the point of replying to threads that are years old?

I see that yet another thread 'cim danger' first started in June 2012, someone has posted on this thread & it's now on the 1st page again, how many pages did someone troll through to get to that post? Is there not enough interesting & current posts to reply to? Why open a thread that is 3 years old?

Mods is there any chance that posts, say more than 12 months old, are locked?

In memory of an awesome woman Laura Lee RIP
It's so difficult to articulate just how much she meant. Inspirational, brave and irreplaceable - our hero.
Please do what you can for her daughter. Deeply appreciated.

    I was wondering the same.
Some person joined yesterday & bumped a few really old threads with not very useful comments!

I totally agree. There are a couple of massive threads that have been dormant since 2012 and have now suddenly appeared at the top of the forums. It makes no sense IMO as many of the contributors are no longer active on here in some cases. Also for those who resurrect these threads, do they really think people are going to wade through all those pages to reach their post at the very end

Well, mods should take action when old threads are revived.

New guy probably found this site through google search. Somebody should start a welcome thread.
My wife caught me wearing ladies underwear and threatened to leave me.
So I packed up all her clothes
    And left.

This. Either search engine or the sites built in search found it.

Have to say I've done it myself on a few forums over the years when searching for answers to PC/car/whatever problems and you feel a right tit when you realise you've just bumped a donkeys old thread.
