How in the name of god can anyone watch a soccer match and take it seriously?

Part of the problem is one of culture.
Rugby is a game for thugs; but played by gentlemen.
Football is a game for gentlemen; but played by thugs.

Football also lacks the ten-metre penalty of rugby which helps referees maintain control.
