I was talking to my biggest regret for a good while yesterday
19 years later and I still wonder what could have been.
We were such good friends for years as well.
Then something happened which fucked it all up.
It was never the same again but it was nice to have a real good talk

This is surely a small minority. I'd say 99% of men would prefer women to be more pro-active in approaching them. Or at least be more approachable.
I think it's more ingrained than that. For one you have your lady who is taking the piss letting him buy drinks all nignt, so she gets a free night and no intention of doing anything with him. That could be seen as confidence or arrogance? Or you have your woman who is approachable, but not a 'night time girl' and harder to get into contact with, as how do you actually meet each other?

I've only ever asked one guy out in my life and it turned out very bad for me. He actually moved in with me in less than 2 months of meeting. He certainly saw a gift horse when he met one and I was stupid enough not to realise that me being forward with him, was telling him I was ripe for the taking.

What I learned from that was that there is no problem with talking to someone and showing them that you like them, but to keep some reserve and let them get to know you a bit first. It's much harder to dump on someone you like.

To be fair in many cases I'm the one doing the abusing and I'm getting paid for it!

I regret that I have a loyalty card for my local off licence and that I get way too much back from them, meaning obviously that I spend far too much there in the first case. How regrettable is it when you build up €30 off based on that being 1% of what I spent. Crap!

And this escorting thing, I could do without this expensive, often dangerous (to my relationship) addiction.

Do you not see the excessive drinking as a threat to your relationship? Personally I would not want to be with someone who was never really with me mentally.

Feel the fear and do it anyway.

(Now have to follow my own advice).
