Thread: Trust in the police

  1. Default

I have to say in fairness that every interaction I've had with AGS (and there haven't been that many) have been 100% professional.

But all the stuff we've heard in recent years, from Donegal onwards, has completely destroyed their reputation. And it's the same problem again and again. Like every other organisation in this country, they protect themselves instead of following the rules and doing the right thing. They simply don't get it that the long term good requires cleaning out the bad guys, and taking the short term hit regardless of how bad it is.

Same as the Catholic Church - reputation in tatters.

I wanted to be a Guard when I was young, and I'd have been a bloody good one. But I'd have ended up like the two whistleblowers or worse.

There is no doubt our police force has its issues, it could be better but any organisation made up of human beings will have issues(name one that dosent). Its just about trying to keep those issues to the minimum possible.
But just for one second think of the anarchy that would ensue if we had no Garda force faults and all that it has.
The truth to be told the very vast majority of people are very law abiding and have very little contact with Gardai and to be
fair the Gardai dont go around randomdly picking on law abiding citizens and harassing them, when u dig down a bit there
is always a reason why the Gardai are focusing on individuals, some people may have issue with their treatment once they
have shall we say come to the notice of the Gardai , but their is a simple solution here keep ure nose clean and they will have
no reason to bother u. I go about my daily routine and to honest my fear of being harassed by a Garda is fairly remote, even if im stopped at a checkpoint if my vechicle is in order i will be waved on if i dont speed i wont get a ticket, if i go for a night
out enjoy and behave myself i wont get my collar felt.
People really have to ask themselves why most people have no issue with Gardai but some do, by any chance do those people need to look closer to home , in the mirror maybe?
    Blatant promotion should be outlawed
    but

i use herbs that the gardai are allowed to break down my door and pull me from my bed in order to seize.
the herbs are common and will not go away (nor should it). am i a real criminal? (wouldn't drink alcohol or use tobacco)
they have made 'crime' out of something natural. other than this, they're just thick bullies that i don't look at.

Yes, you are a REAL criminal. It's against the law to possess the green. I agree with everything Ber said. And as for your statement that 'zero police is better than bent police', that's bollocks, as this abstract idea of order keeps everyone from looting and shooting each other. It would be utter choas otherwise. Plus, your statement implies that ALL police are corrupt. No, they are not.

This is obviously one of those half-baked 'fuck da law, smoke da draw' statements, and asking people here in the context of an escort forum, would automatically relate to the enforcement of drugs and prostitution. I bet those that voted below 50% would contact these very people that they 'don't trust' or 'trust very little' if their house was burgled or their car was stolen, rather than go all vengeful and take to the streets with a double-barreled shot gun to take matters into their own hands.
