Though I have no personal experience of hagglers , I somehow do not think that they'd be a considerate bunch.

I doubt they'd give two sh*ts about your exchange rate or anything else : if they're low enough to haggle to begin with ,

why waste a breath or even a thought on them , let alone a thread ???!

Solidarity ? You wouldn't know solidarity if it bit you on your ample ass !

Tell me to be quiet lol ? Now that is a bit rich lol ! Open forum and such etc. expressing my opinion just as you are !

Would you really deprive me of such fleeting temporary pleasures lol !??

Me touting ? Hm. Is it about the Madness in France ? Is it about my political (dry and boring as heck !!) discussions lol ?

Touting ? By relating my personal experiences ? Is that not what you do as well lol ?

It's just that we have very different daily personal experiences. And at that , very very different life experiences as a whole.

    Yep.
Good News. Post Office exchange all currency free of change.
Bad News. They give you piss-poor rate of exchange. Best avoided.

I just had a guy call me and tell me he only had €60 and could he have 30 minutes of my time for that?

    Here is the maths.

I charge £90 in the UK (including Northern Ireland). I cross the border and I charge €100. I have not changed this rate in line with current exchange rates, so currently that equates to £78, which means I've already taken a £12 cut on my minimum charge.

€60 is the equivalent of £46 rounded down. That's nearly half my normal rate in the UK.

Sterling is the currency I pay my bills with. Any money that I make in the Republic has to be transferred to sterling for me to pay my bills etc, so I don't get like for like benefit.

Basically what I'm saying is anyone wanting to haggle please don't embarrass yourself, as it will result in a short sharp rejection. I don't care how horny you are. I will not be lowering my rates.

There are plenty of girls out there already charging much less and plenty that don't have to change their euros and take a loss, so maybe better to find someone within your price range rather than put me in a bad mood.

    Ta like
Sterling is strong unfortunately Curvaceous Kate but the smart punter would wait and wait and wait until you were back in the South again and then visit you. I'm afraid i'm not a smart punter, just smart.
As for those dreaded hagglers maybe a sign on your front door may help Hagglers, Do Not Enter,
    Goodbye

Personally I think Kate could look on the bright side.
She can afford to turn down what may have taken that haggler most of a day to earn.

So generally , what is the best recourse ?

Where's best to exchange funds ? Not only euro and sterling , but funds for travel etc. ?

Banks ? Your own ? What else ? xx

UlsterBank give pretty good rates and a low commission fee, Permanent TSB rob you on the commission fee and the credit Union are the worst of all, shite rate and they charge you 6% commsion

The post office don't buy currency, only sell it. Sorry, not entirely true, they will buy it back off you if you if you bought it from them and got them to put it onto one of their money cards, no idea how they work .

With respect, maybe you should quote euro and sterling rates, cause we may not have the right currency. I remember changing sterling into euro at a cost, only to pay a lady who was going to the UK.We both lost out

You shouldn't really go to banks for this type of transaction as they will shaft you harder than the P.O and smile.
I go to the Bureaux de change and get great rates all the time, can't be beat, 3 of them in my area and they're not fond of each other and I play one against the other, like say Big Annie down the street is offering it at €€ suppose it is a form of haggling in a way yes I know it's a very naughty thing to do but its my money and I work too damn easy for it and like to get my money's worth.
