It would be very hard to see a man go back and earn 15k a week and his victim live a life in hell. The PFA has never acknowledged the victim in this terrible crime.

He needs to be rehabilitated and counseled , if it was an ordinary person who committed this crime no employer would take him on ..

I wonder if all the do gooders who speak of second chances would be so quick to fall in behind a convicted paedophile?
The answer is no....because they know bloody well that they don't want any association with one that why!
Yet a rapist is somehow seen as a better bet

If he messed around with your kids he would get what he deserves it seems ...,but if he raped your wife he might be worthy of returning to his charmed life after 2 years

Now if anyone thinks this scumbag should be given a second chance at this time then they are in same moral league as the scumbag himself.

He raped a young lady who was too intoxicated to defend herself. That is simply unforgiveable.
The bastard should have been locked away for 10 years and made to serve his full time. He should have been forced to do rehabilitation and make a formal apology to the lady and not released until he had done so.
He has in no way paid for his crime and so should not be given a second chance........
hes try to get the conviction overturned. You cant apologize for something and then try to make it written that it didnt happen.

Lets say if you robbed a bank. You get convicted. You try to appeal and then say you are sorry and then say well i can i still get the conviction quashed even though i admitted it.

This trial is like a game of high stakes poker where how you play your hand is vital.

evans could either have apologized or done the appeal route. he chose the latter. lets see how it plays out

the reason why this case is up and running is because the other lad was found not guilty. if they both had been found guilty evans would still be in jail and definietly wouldnt have a chance of appeal. the juries verdicts were inconsistent with each other and that is unconsciously giving rise to the whole debacle.

the jury really opened up a can of worms.

There seems to be a misconception here that he is trying to appeal the conviction, this is not the case he has already been refused leave to appeal. What he is doing is having his case looked at by a review group to see if it would warrant being
considered as a miscarriage of justice. His chances of success here are very very slim as only 3% of all cases reviewed are
    ever taken further

This is my take on this situation!

Personally I think 5 years was way to short for the crime he was convicted of but thats a different thread. For him to only serve half that time is a pure insult to that poor girl who will have to live with that experience for the rest of her life!

I agree, everyone deserves a second chance, but they should also have to pay the price of their deeds first!

He is a convicted and unrepentant rapist who has never shown any acknowledgement or remorse for what he has done, or concern for the long lasting effects his victim will endure. Should be banned for life from professional sport at any level.

He should be banned for life. Not many careers someone with a rape conviction should expect to go back to. It's disgraceful that people want to overlook what he did because he can kick a ball around.
